You will need...
2 slices of bread
Butter or margarine
Cheese (I like to slice off some real marble cheddar. Little Man insists on "real cheese", which to him is a cheese slice. Either will work.)
1 egg
Make a sandwich out of the bread and cheese, then butter both sides of the sandwich on the outside. Use a glass, empty soup can, or whatever you have around that's round and cut out a circle from the centre of the bread. Place it on your skillet (about 350 degrees worked great for me), and crack an egg into your hole.
Turn your heat down a little now. This is the tricky part... Waiting for the egg to cook through, without the bread burning. Keep an eye on it...
When you can see that the egg is cooking up through the centre (and looks about half way cooked), you can flip it over. Be a spatula ninja- get it on there, then flip 'er fast! You're lightning! Do a happy dance that you did it.
It smells great.. Be patient.
We also made these:
They're so wee! Little Man said they were yummy. They were so small he shared one with the dog- puppy sized grilled cheese!
And that's all. Yummy breakfast, and a nice twist on the old egg and toast meal. We like to change things up sometimes. Variety is the spice of life right? Now go get your flip on, you Spatula Ninja!
